V dňoch 6. až 8. marca sa v slovinskom Brde pri Kranju koná Spoločná konferencia Alpského a Karpatského dohovoru zameraná na výmenu skúsenosti týkajúcich sa manažmentu veľkých šeliem. Zo Slovenska na medzinárodnom stretnutí aktívne participuje Štátna ochrana prírody Slovenskej republiky a Technická univerzita vo Zvolene.
Konferencia je organizovaná v rámci medzinárodného projektu LECA a organizátorom je projektový partner Slovenia Forest Service. Konferencia je pripravovaná v spolupráci so slovinským Ministerstvom prírodných zdrojov a územného plánovania, Sekretariátom Alpského dohovoru, Sekretariátom Karpatského dohovoru a Ministerstvom životného prostredia Českej republiky.
Účelom konferencie je prispieť k implementácii Memoranda o spolupráci medzi Sekretariátmi Alpského a Karpatského dohovoru a Sekretariátom dohovoru o biologickej diverzite podpísaného v roku 2023.
Stav populácií veľkých šeliem, metódy monitorovania, charakter ich biotopov, stupeň interakcie s ľuďmi a následných konfliktov sa medzi samotnými regiónmi líšia. Cieľom konferencie je preto medzinárodná výmena skúseností v rámci ochrany a manažmentu veľkých šeliem v alpskom a karpatskom regióne.

Cooperation between the Alpine and the Carpathian regions - joint conference in Slovenia
The Joint Conference of the Alpine and Carpathian Convention focused on the exchange of experience related to the management of large carnivores takes place in Brdo pri Kranju between 6 – 8 March. From Slovakia, the State Nature Conservancy of the Slovak Republic and the Technical University in Zvolen are actively participating in the international meeting.
The conference is organized in the scope of international project LECA by the Slovenia Forest Service in cooperation with the Slovenian Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, the Secretariat of the Alpine Convention, the Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic.
The purpose of the conference is the implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation between Secretariats of the Alpine and Carpathian Conventions and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The status of large carnivore populations, monitoring methods, spatial characteristics of their habitats, and the degree of interaction with humans and consequent conflicts vary between and within the regions themselves. The main objective of the conference is the exchange of the experience on the current large carnivores conservation and management across Alps and Carpathians.
