They are particularly effective for monitoring medium-sized carnivores. Obtaining data with the highest possible precision is critical for their management and conservation. Between 2021 and 2024, we deployed 211 camera traps across 37 localities in southern Slovakia. The devices were placed in defined linear habitats with varying exposure lengths. In total, 1,746,257 images were captured during the study period. From this dataset, we extracted data concerning martens. Individuals of these species are difficult to distinguish via camera traps; therefore, they are recorded as Martes sp. and were not differentiated into M. foina and M. martes. Martens were recorded at 31 localities across 108 monitoring points. Overall, the devices recorded 951 independent detections of martens (Martes sp. 778 individuals, M. foina 10, M. martes 163). For analysis, the data were standardized using the Relative Abundance Index (RAI), which measures the frequency of species detection by camera traps, corrected for total monitoring effort. Our objectives were to determine: 1. Whether the frequency of independent marten detections correlates with the number of installed camera traps; 2. Whether martens prefer any of the monitored habitats; 3. Whether the number of independent detections of the target species at a locality is influenced by the distance to the nearest settlement (village, dwelling); 4. The daily activity patterns of martens in different habitat types; 5. How the syntopy of martens and cats affects the RAI of both species. Key factors influencing the distribution, abundance, and ecology of mustelids in the agrocenosis are primarily linked to their adaptability to environmental changes, food availability, and landscape structure elements in agricultural landscapes. K negatívam možno zaradiť: časovo náročnú analýzu údajov, riziko nefunkčnosti fotopasce (poškodenie, krádež), potenciálnu zmenu správania zvierat a limitácie v individuálnej identifikácii jedincov bez výrazných znakov.
