Intervention Team was established to minimise conflicts between humans and brown bears. It carries out a range of tasks related to the monitoring, prevention and management of the species. The primary task of the intervention team is to ensure the safety of people as soon as possible after a bear is reported within the built-up areas of towns and municipalities, while using measures that are as considerate as possible towards the bear itself. The aim of the intervention team members is to ensure that the bear leaves the area without harming anyone.
From a preventive perspective, the intervention team primarily carries out activities aimed at removing attractants that attract bears into inhabited areas and the immediate surroundings thereof. These include, in particular, unsecured municipal waste, which bears seek out as an easily accessible food source, as well as feeding sites for wild game.
